MIRI: Three abandoned vehicles were reduced to charred shells in a late-night fire that lit up the skies over Eastwood Industrial Estate here last night (June 21).
The blaze, which broke out near the Hong Huat Workshop along Jalan Miri Bypass, was reported at 9.50 pm. Witnesses described seeing thick plumes of smoke rising from the scene before fire engines arrived.
Firefighters from the Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station responded swiftly, deploying a team to the site.
“Using a single hose line powered by water from the engine’s onboard tank, the team worked quickly to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings,” said the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) today.
It added the flames had completely engulfed all three cars by the time they arrived.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the area had been unoccupied at the time.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
