KANOWIT: Three motorcycles allegedly fitted with modified exhaust systems were seized by police during a joint operation today (Aug 18).
The seizure was made following complaints by members of the public.
Kanowit police found that the motorcycles were suspected of causing excessive noise due to modifications to their exhaust systems and other equipment.
All three motorcycles were impounded and taken to the Kanowit police station for further action under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The joint operation, codenamed ‘Ops Motosikal’, was conducted around Kanowit town by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division and Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division.
A total of 40 vehicles, including 15 motorcycles, and 65 individuals were inspected during the operation, which ran from 9 am to noon.
Police also issued 16 traffic summonses for various offences detected during the operation.
Kanowit police said such operations would be intensified from time to time to ensure road users comply with traffic rules and regulations.
