LUNDU: Three locals were arrested after the General Operations Force (GOF) intercepted a suspicious pick-up truck and uncovered a small packet of suspected methamphetamine last Saturday.
Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said the arrests were made at 5.32 am under an operation codenamed ‘Op Taring Awas’.
“Officers from the GOF 11th Battalion stopped a pick-up truck carrying three men in Lundu after it was spotted in a suspicious condition.
“Further checks led to the discovery of a plastic packet containing 0.32g of crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine.
“The seized drugs and vehicle have a combined estimated value of RM50,100,” he said.
The suspects, aged between 23 and 36, along with the seized items, have been handed over to the Lundu District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further action.
Che Ghazali added that the case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
