KOTA SAMARAHAN: Three men who thought they could sneak off with loot from a thrift store at Jalan Muara Tuang, ended up leaving empty-handed and in handcuffs instead.
Their late-night heist came to a halt around 12.45 am today (May 14) when a crime prevention patrol team spotted them making a suspicious exit from the premises.
Kota Samarahan police chief Supt Damataries Lautin said the trio, aged 29, 31 and 36, were caught red-handed exiting the store’s fenced compound.
“During questioning, the suspects admitted they had just broken into the store with intention to steal.
“However, they were not able to grab a single item from the premises,” he said in a statement.
Background checks revealed that two of the men are no strangers to the law as they had prior records related drugs and other offences.
Damataries said the trio will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass.
If found guilty, they could face imprisonment for a term of up to six months, a fine up to RM3,000, or both.
