KOTA KINABALU: Three individuals were found charred while another was burned in a house fire in Kampung Darau Menggatal here early this morning.
The deceased were identified as Loupin Adow, 67, her son, Azman Maduin, 50, and her granddaughter, Nurul Asyiqin Alinor, 29; while the burned person was Nurul Asyikin’s husband, who is 34 years old.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre in a statement said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 1.43 am.
“The first engine from the Lintas Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) arrived at the location at 1.50 am.
“The results of the on-site inspection of the completely destroyed house found the three dead victims while one victim who suffered burns was sent to the hospital by the Emergency Medical Services (EMRS) engine for further treatment,” he said.
The extinguishing operation was carried out using two 200-foot streams with two water jets from the fire engine tanks until the fire was successfully controlled at 2.10 am and the operation was completely ended at 5.19 am.
“A total of 17 firefighters including personnel from BBP Lintas along with an FRT, EMRS engine, and three four-wheel drive vehicles were at the location,” according to the statement.
The extinguishing and rescue operation was also assisted by by nine members of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), three officers of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH), and two Sabah Electricity personnel.
