MIRI: The police here raided a shop believed to be used as an illegal gambling outlet in Kuala Baram Land District and seized three gaming machines on Friday.

Miri District Deputy Police chief, Superintendent Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said acting on information received, a CID team led by ASP Unang Giang raided the outlet at 8.00pm.

“During the raid, a 42-year-old Indonesian man, believed to be the caretaker was detained. Besides the three gaming machines, the police also seized three units of credit card reader,” he said here.

Stanley said the suspect and the seized items were taken to Miri Central Police Station for further investigation.

“The case is being investigated under Section 4B (A) of the Open Gaming House Act, 1953 and Section 5 of the Entertainment Ordinance, 2001,” he added.
