SERIAN: Electricity supply to three business premises suspected of operating illegal gambling activities here was cut-off on Thursday (Mar 5).

Serian Police chief, Supt Freddy Bian Stanislaus Bian, said the action was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Serian Police Headquarters (IPD) in collaboration with Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB).

He said the electricity supply was disconnected under Section 21A of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

Under the provision, electricity supply to the premises cannot be reconnected without written permission from the district police chief.
