BETONG: Three men were left injured following a collision between two lorries along Jalan Pan Borneo near the Sarawak Energy Substation this morning (Sept 29).

The 8.25 am accident involved a five-tonne lorry carrying two men and a three-tonne lorry whose occupants had stepped out to carry out roadside work.

It was reported that the five-tonne lorry collided with the smaller vehicle, leaving three men injured — both men from the larger lorry and one from the three-tonne lorry. Another worker managed to escape without harm.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Betong station were dispatched to the scene, about 14km away, following an emergency call.

However, by the time they arrived, the injured had already been rescued by members of the public.

Firefighters proceeded to administer initial treatment before the victims, who suffered arm and leg injuries, were sent to Betong Hospital.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 9.20 am.
