ZAGREB: Three people were killed and one remained missing after a catamaran and a sailboat collided on Sunday off Croatia’s southern Adriatic coast, local police said, reported Xinhua.
The collision occurred at 11.38 am local time (0938 GMT) in the Split maritime zone, between the islands of Solta and Brac.
According to the Split-Dalmatia County Police Administration, all those who died were passengers on the sailboat. Emergency medical teams treated four others at the scene; none required hospitalisation.
Local media reported that the sailboat, which was carrying a total of eight people, sank immediately following the impact.
