NEW YORK, United States (US): At least three people were killed in an early Sunday shooting at a crowded nightclub in Brooklyn, New York, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
Officers responding to an emergency call found 11 people with gunshot wounds inside the Taste of the City Lounge, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
Three of the victims later died of their injuries.
Investigators recovered 36 shell casings at the scene, indicating that multiple firearms and likely more than one shooter were involved, Tisch said.
No arrests have been made so far.
She described the incident as a “terrible shooting”, stressing that such violence is not normal even for a city the size of New York.
Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from surrounding streets to identify the perpetrators.
The victims included eight men and three women.
The Taste of the City Lounge, which operates as a bar and restaurant into the early morning hours, is located in the Crown Heights neighbourhood of Brooklyn. – BERNAMA-dpa
