SRI AMAN: Three people lost their lives in a horrific collision between two vehicles along Jalan Serian-Sri Aman near a P-turn junction on the Pan Borneo Highway.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was alerted to a report of an accident involving a collision between two vehicles at 8.30 am this morning.

Firefighters from Sri Aman fire station were dispatched to the incident location which is near Kampung Selepong Jinggau, Jalan Serian-Sri Aman.

Upon arrival, the operations commander on the ground reported that there were two vehicles involved in the collision, an SUV and an MPV.

The upturned SUV off to the side of the main road.

“The MPV was engulfed in flames which completely destroyed the vehicle while the SUV was upside down off from the main road.

“Eight victims, including children, were involved in the accident. The three victims from the MPV, a woman and two children, sustained minor injuries and are safe.

“Two children from the SUV survived but sustained injuries to the head, prompting Bomba’s Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) unit to transport them to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment,” it said.

However, three adult victims from the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene and has been handed over to the police for further action.

Firefighters were able to put out the flame on the MPV and cleared the scene before heading back to their post, ending the operations at 10 am.
