MUKAH: Three men aged between 16 and 24 were arrested during a narcotics raid at Kampung Tellian Tradisi here on Thursday (Feb 19).
The suspects, who are unemployed, were detained by a team from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) of the Mukah Police Headquarters (IPD) at about 1.15 pm following information received.
Mukah police chief, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, said initial inspection led to the discovery of a transparent straw tube containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine.
“The estimated gross weight of the seized drugs is 0.46 gramme. The substance was found in the possession of the 24-year-old suspect,” he said in a statement today.
Urine screening tests conducted on the suspects found them positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
The suspect believed to be in possession of the drugs is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act for drug use.
The other two suspects are being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug use.
All three suspects were brought to Mukah IPD for further action.
