KUCHING: Quick-thinking member of the public rescued three men after the car they were travelling in, plunged into the Sarawak River near Satok Bridge yesterday (Sept 10).
The 6.10 pm incident saw nearby bystanders rushing to the victims’ aid as the vehicle floated in the water.
Witnesses quickly formed a human chain and used a water hose to pull the car closer to the riverbank before breaking the car window to free the men, who were visibly panicking inside.
All three were brought to safety, with one sent to hospital by ambulance for further treatment.
Firefighters from Petra Jaya station were dispatched to the scene near Kubah Ria following an emergency call.
However, no rescue operation was required as the victims had already been saved by the public.
The team later conducted checks to ensure no one else was trapped inside the vehicle.
