Three nabbed after testing positive for drugs

MERADONG: Narcotics police have arrested three first-time offenders suspected of being involved in drug abuse during a targeted operation on Monday night (Dec 8).

The suspects, comprising a man and two women, were picked up by the district police’s task force at around 8.40 pm.

Meradong police chief DSP Tansli Mering said the group, aged between 19 and 28, were taken to the police station for further actions.

“Urine tests conducted at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) office showed that all three tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

“Further checks found none of them had any prior criminal or drug records,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or imprisonment of up to two years, upon conviction.

Tansli pointed out that police will not tolerate anyone with drug offences.
