SIBU: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Sibu branch today announced the adoption of three newborn baby boys in conjunction with the celebration of World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2025.

According to MRCS Sibu Branch Vice-Chairperson, Normah Abdul Rahman, the three babies were born at Sibu Hospital early today.

“The first three babies were born at Sibu Hospital to be adopted by MRCS Sibu Branch in conjunction with World Red Cross Day this year,” she told reporters at the Sibu Hospital.

According to Normah, the first baby is the son of Kupa Enchana, born at 12:36 am and weighing 1.46 kilogrammes.

The second baby is the son of Callestte Devi Lim, born at 3:03 am and weighing 2.88 kilogrammes.

Meanwhile, the third baby is the son of Menun Igan, born at 3:26 am and weighing 2.15 kilogrammes.

Normah said that this adoption programme is part of MRCS’ humanitarian efforts to reach out to the local community, in addition to fostering awareness of the importance of humanitarian aid and support from the beginning of life.

On behalf of the MRCS Sibu Branch, she also presented souvenirs and gifts to the respective three babies.

“World Red Cross Day is celebrated every year on May 8 to commemorate the birth of the founder of the Red Cross, Henry Dunant, and to appreciate the services of volunteers and humanitarian workers around the world,” Normah added.
