Three sudden death cases reported in a single day

KUCHING: Police here recorded three separate sudden death cases in the district on Wednesday (Sept 10), involving two local men and a foreign national.

Kuching Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the first case was reported around 11:24 am when a decomposed body of a local man, in his 70s, was found inside a rented room at Metrocity.

“The body was discovered following a call from the public who detected a foul smell.

“His remains have been sent to the Sarawak General Hospital’s (SGH) Forensic Department for a post-mortem,” he said.

The second case occurred around 1:34 pm in front of BS Supermarket at Jalan Depo, opposite SMK Semerah Padi, where a 46-year-old local man was found unconscious.

Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from SGH before being sent for post-mortem.

Later the same day at around 8:15 pm, Alexson stated that they received information regarding an Indonesian man, in his 30s, who was found unconscious in a worker’s quarters at Lorong Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim.

“The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to SGH for a post-mortem,” he said.

Preliminary investigations in all three cases found no signs of foul play, and the cases have been classified as sudden death.

Members of the public are advised not to speculate on the incidents to safeguard the sensitivities of the victims’ families.
