KUCHING: A Perodua Kenari was seized after its foreign driver was found without a valid driving license during a special enforcement operation conducted by the Road Transport Department (RTD) here in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration.
Sarawak RTD said the vehicle was impounded during several operations around the city on Sunday (Feb 22).
A Toyota Vellfire and a Perodua Bezza were also seized for expired road tax and lack of insurance coverage.
A total of 294 vehicles were inspected through patrols and static enforcement at Jalan Setia Raja and several other locations.
Among other offences detected were driving without a valid licence, failure to wear seat belts and various technical violations involving vehicle conditions.
RTD said enforcement would continue to ensure road safety and urged motorists to comply with regulations and ensure their documents were valid before using the roads.
