THE federal government is once again providing the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) to 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above, which will be distributed in mid-February next year.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the assistance aimed to help Malaysians prepare for the month of Ramadan and the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.

In addition, the payment for Phase 4 of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), originally scheduled for November, will be brought forward and distributed starting October 18.

Sarawak Tribune spoke to several members of the public about this matter.

“This assistance is truly beneficial for the people, especially during festive seasons and Ramadan, as it helps ease financial burdens. It should definitely continue to support those with lower incomes. Alhamdulillah, even though it’s RM100, it can still be used to buy essential goods or groceries. As for the STR payment that will be distributed on October 18, it is wonderful news, particularly for those in need.”

In my opinion, the continuation of the RM100 assistance next year is very good because it helps people prepare for Ramadan and Chinese New Year. Although the amount is not large, it shows the government’s concern for the people’s hardships. It should be continued every year, especially when the cost of goods and living expenses are rising. Besides SARA, we will also receive the STR Phase 4 earlier, which will certainly help those in need.”

“Alhamdulillah, the government’s decision to continue the RM100 SARA aid next year is helpful as it provides some financial support for Ramadan preparations. The amount may not be much but it helps small traders like me to increase business capital. Similarly, the upcoming STR Phase 4 assistance will also benefit the people.”

“In my view, this assistance is meaningful as it helps ease the people’s burden, particularly in buying essential goods. It should indeed continue every year since it provides relief to those in need. We know that RM100 doesn’t have the same value as before but this aid is still significant because it helps us buy basic necessities. Regarding STR Phase 4, the early distribution is great news and will have a big impact on those who need it most.”
