SIBU: Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, joined the local Muslim community here in celebrating Hari Raya Aidiladha with visits to Surau Darul Taqwa in Rejang Park and Masjid Darul Firdaus in Jalan Apollo on Saturday.
The Pelawan assemblyman was received by congregants at Surau Darul Taqwa, where he took part in the celebration and sponsored a cow for the sacrificial rites.
During his visit, he engaged in meaningful dialogue with the congregants to better understand the needs of the surau.
Tiang also took the opportunity to share various welfare initiatives available with his constituents in Pelawan, including wedding and newborn aids.
He later proceeded to Masjid Darul Firdaus in Jalan Apollo, where he joined the qurban ceremony and likewise sponsored a cow for the sacrifice.
As a show of commitment to improving facilities for the local Muslim community, he also pledged to assist with the installation of air-conditioning at the mosque.
Tiang also reiterated his ongoing welfare efforts aimed at easing the burden on families in Pelawan.
“This festive occasion is not only about religious observance but also about strengthening community ties and understanding the needs of every resident,” he said.
