KUCHING: Tie Teck Ming, a retired contractor was the grand prize winner of the “Peraduan Maggi Jom Masak & Menang”. With the win he drove home an Isuzu D-Max (3.0L V-Cross AT) pickup truck.

Winners of the contest were announced during the contest’s grand finale held at E-mart, Batu Kawa, near here, yesterday.

The contest held in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak Festival was launched on 1 May and ended on 30 June, received a record submission of close to 220,000 entries.

The contest was also in line with Maggi’s continuous efforts to engage and reward individuals and families for their strong support over the years.

“The contest is our way of showing appreciation to our consumers for making Maggi part of their everyday special moments. Much like how the Gawai Dayak Festival is a celebration of unity and thankfulness, we at Maggi are truly thankful for the strong support given to us all these years,” said Nestlé (Malaysia) Berhad, Sarawak Branch Manager, Dave Bawa in a speech during the prize presentation ceremony for the contest.

During the finale, three finalists underwent an intense competition for the Grand Prize (ISUZU D-MAX). The competition tested their technical skills, on-the-spot agility as well as their knowledge on Maggi products.

Tie,70, who was previously in the construction line said he was not expecting a call from Maggi as one of the finalists. He added that he was blessed and expressed his gratitude to Maggi and his family and friends who came to support him.

He also disclosed that he had previously won something but not to the extent of driving home a brand new vehicle.

“I really did things differently. Everyone came to win but I came prepared with strategies despite not knowing the challenges I’ll be facing. It was a close fight amongst us but luck was on my side and winning the ISUZU D-MAX definitely made my year. Thank You Maggi!” he said.

The first and second runners-up went to Mohamad Roslan and Huang Chiong Ley who walked away with RM5,000 and RM3,000 SENHENG vouchers, respectively.

Weekly prizes of attractive electronic appliances and gadgets such as the 430L SHARP two-door refrigerators, 120GB branded tablets, SAMSUNG C9 Pro smartphones and 49-inch TOSHIBA SmartTV 4K UHD were also given out during the two-month long contest.

During the contest period, a total of seven road shows were held in Kuching, Sibu and Miri on a weekly basis, where visitors were able to participate in fun games that Maggi had prepared for families.

Among the activities held during the three-day carnival were cooking demonstrations and exciting giveaways for shoppers who purchased Maggi products. Maggi reached out to over 7,000 Sarawakians throughout its two month-long road show.
