KUCHING: Rimbunan Sawit Bhd (RSB) has appointed Datuk Tiong Thai King as its new executive chairman, as part of a board restructuring exercise aimed at strengthening corporate leadership.

Tiong, 80, is no stranger to the group, having first joined RSB in 1975 and previously served as group managing director.

He is also the executive chairman and founder of the Mafrica Group of Companies, the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Beyond the corporate sphere, Tiong remains active in social, educational, and community causes.

He currently holds leadership roles in several non-governmental organisations, including chairman of the Sibu Agape Centre, deputy chairman of the Persatuan Klan

Zhang Negeri Sarawak, and chairman of the United Association of Private Chinese Secondary School Management Board.

In addition to Tiong’s appointment, RSB named Maurice Joannes Giri, 63, as an independent director.

Maurice holds a Master of Science in Training and Human Resource Management from the University of Leicester, UK, and brings over two decades of experience in human resource roles spanning multiple industries—from retail and hospitality to semiconductors, shipping, and logistics.

RSB also announced several internal reshuffles.

Bong Wei Leong, 58, has been redesignated from executive chairman to vice chairman.

Meanwhile, effective August 1, 2025, Wong Yueo Yuon, 53, has been appointed as chief financial officer.
