SIBU: Despite having a busy day assisting flood victims in Bintulu yesterday, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing made time to meet the people here, attending the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Chinese New Year Open House today (Jan 30).
The Dudong assemblyman ensured he did not disappoint those eager to see him.
“I’m a bit late today (Jan 30) as I’ve just arrived from Bintulu. I’m so sorry,” he said when speaking to reporters at the event.
When asked whether he would be returning to Bintulu after the programme, Tiong, who is also the PDP President, responded without hesitation.
“Yes, I will go back to Bintulu after this to continue assisting our people there,” he said.
The event drew more than 10,000 attendees, with visitors arriving as early as 7.30 am. The event ran from 8 am to 1 pm.
Guests were treated to a variety of festive dishes, including fried noodles, roasted chicken, and mandarin oranges.
The open house aimed to strengthen ties between leaders and the community, embodying the spirit of unity in Malaysia’s multicultural society.
Among those present were Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Alice Lau, Bawang Assan assemblyman Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, Krian assemblyman Friday Belik, Engkilili assemblyman Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa, and Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng.
