BINTULU: The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, has refuted claims suggesting he rarely returns to his Bintulu parliamentary constituency since assuming his ministerial duties, stating that such allegations are untrue.

In a speech delivered by his Deputy, Khairul Firdaus Akhbar Khan, during the ministry’s Hari Raya gathering with the Community@Bintulu 2025 at the Jepak Petanque Arena on Monday night, Tiong reaffirmed that his commitment to the constituency remains unwavering.

“Whether I am physically in Bintulu or not, my heart is always with Bintulu. I constantly monitor and manage matters concerning the people here,” he said.

The Member of Parliament for Bintulu stressed that although he is currently busy with his responsibilities as a minister, the Bintulu Parliamentary Service Centre team on the ground will continue to deliver the best possible service to the local community.

He urged the public not to hesitate to contact him via message, WhatsApp, or phone call should they have any needs or concerns.

As the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Tiong said his current role carries greater responsibilities, particularly in promoting the national tourism sector, which holds vast potential for spurring Malaysia’s economic growth.

“The tourism industry is a sector that can directly benefit the people and contribute significantly to the country’s economic development,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Hari Raya gathering also served as a platform for unity – with people from various ethnic backgrounds coming together to celebrate in the spirit of togetherness.

“In Sarawak, we live in unity and mutual respect. That is our strength. Events like this should continue – without excessive protocol, in an open and sincere atmosphere,” he remarked.

He expressed his hope that more community engagement sessions will be organised in the future – not only as avenues to foster rapport, but also as a platform for the people to voice their opinions and share concerns.
