SIBU: Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has called for urgent repairs and upgrades to key infrastructure in Kampung Kedada and Kampung Banyok, which are frequently affected by floods.
Tiong said that the recurring floods in Kampung Kedada and Kampung Banyok had forced many residents to build their houses on stilts.

“Wooden bridges in the villages, which serve as important access routes, have also started to deteriorate after years of use, posing safety risks.
“In addition to ongoing river dredging and deepening projects, I have instructed my service centre staff to liaise with the relevant authorities as soon as possible to facilitate the repair and upgrading of these bridges,” he said via his Facebook yesterday.
He also highlighted the poor condition of some village roads, which are too narrow and in need of repairs.
“My team will work with the relevant agencies to push for road-widening and improvements to enhance public infrastructure for all road users,” he added.
Earlier, Tiong, who is also the Bintulu Member of Parliament, visited the two villages along with his team from the Dudong Service Centre and members of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).
They also stopped by Jalan Sukun to celebrate the occasion with the local Muslim community.
“The festive spirit was shared in a harmonious atmosphere as we enjoyed traditional Malay delicacies,” he said.
