KABONG: A suspected drug dealer’s activities came to an abrupt end after police swooped on him and uncovered a stash of alleged syabu hidden.

The 28-year-old local man was arrested during an ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ conducted by the district police’s task force yesterday (Jun 15) following information from the public.

Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the team, led by Insp Henry, tracked down the suspect and carried out an inspection.

“It led to the discovery of 12 straw tubes containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu, with an estimate weight of 2.34g,” he said.

Both the suspect and seized drugs were taken to the police station, where a urine screening test returned positive results for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

Mathew said the case is being investigated under Sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession of drugs and substance abuse.
