KUCHING: Over 120 Toastmasters club officers from across Sarawak and Brunei have been equipped with fresh leadership strategies and community-focused goals as part of the Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) training held in Kuching and Miri recently.

Held under the theme “Dream It, Do It”, the TLI training brought together Division D club officers representing Toastmasters clubs in Kuching, Bintulu, Miri, and Brunei.

The sessions took place on Jul19 at i-CATS University College in Kuching and Jul 20 at IBS College in Miri.

Division D director Joanna Then, Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM), emphasised the importance of equipping club officers with real-world leadership and communication skills.

“This training is about more than fulfilling responsibilities— it’s about staying agile, adopting technology, and leading clubs in a fast-changing global landscape,” she said.

The training sessions, conducted in both English and Mandarin, covered strategic planning, membership growth, officer roles, and Toastmasters’ signature Pathways learning programme.

Among the facilitators were top district leaders from Toastmasters District 87, including District director Suharjo Setio and Programme Quality director Desmond Chieng.
