SIBU: A two-year-old boy was found dead after he was believed to have fallen into an uncovered manhole along Jalan Pedada yesterday (Aug 4).
The child was reported missing by his father at 6.29 pm, who suspected the boy might have fallen into the manhole.
Firefighters from Sibu station were dispatched to the scene to search for the boy and his body was discovered floating in the sewerage system at about 6.55 pm.
He was pulled out at 7 pm and pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie said the boy’s remains were later taken to Sibu Hospital for further action.
The operation ended at 7.30 pm.
