KUCHING: National mixed doubles shuttler Toh Ee Wei has withdrawn from the Indonesia Open 2026 after sustaining a knee injury during last week’s Singapore Open.
The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) confirmed today that an MRI assessment revealed a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Ee Wei’s left knee.
As a result, Ee Wei and mixed doubles partner Chen Tang Jie have been forced to pull out of tomorrow’s Super 1000 tournament in Jakarta.
The injury occurred during the pair’s Singapore Open quarter-final match against India’s Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crast, which ended in a heartbreaking mid-match 18-16 lead retirement for the Malaysian pair.
According to BAM, Ee Wei is scheduled to undergo a follow-up MRI assessment next Friday before the national body’s medical team determines the next course of treatment and rehabilitation.
Further updates on Ee Wei’s recovery timeline are expected following next week’s medical assessment.
