KUCHING: The Asia-Oceania Final Qualifying Tournament for the ITF World Junior Tennis U14 Boys’ competition kicks off tomorrow (April 8) at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) Centre, featuring the region’s most promising young players from 16 countries.
Teams will battle for four slots to the ITF World Junior Tennis Finals in the Czech Republic this August.
Top-seeded South Korea leads Group A, joined by seventh-seeded Australia, India, and Pakistan.
Group B sees third-seeded Kazakhstan facing eighth-seeded Japan, along with Iran and Indonesia, following the official draw conducted during the team captains’ meeting today.
Group C will feature fourth-seeded Thailand, fifth-seeded Chinese Taipei with New Zealand, and Singapore.
Meanwhile, second-seeded Hong Kong, China head Group D, alongside Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and sixth-seeded China.
The team captains’ meeting was chaired by SLTA president Datuk Patrick Liew.
Also present were ITF representative Catherine Michies and tournament referee Puneet Gupta.
