KUCHING: The PETRONAS Youth Football Closed Tournament 2025 (PYFCT 2025) and the PETRONAS Youth Football Champions League 2025 (PYFCL 2025) create pathways for young football talents from grassroots backgrounds with ambitious aspirations.
PETRONAS Sarawak general manager Norazibah Md Rabu said the two tournaments are not merely about trophies, league titles or match results, but about opening pathways for youth development and long-term growth.

“PYFCT plays a role in opening doors to opportunities and exposure, while PYFCL builds a more structured pathway towards continuous development.
“This pathway teaches them that success does not come overnight, but instead demands discipline, teamwork and consistent commitment,” she said.
She said this in a text-of-speech read by PETRONAS Sarawak senior manager Nor Azam Abg Zawawie during the PETRONAS Youth Football Champions League (PYFCL) 2025 Opening Ceremony at a hotel here on Saturday.
Norazibah added that PETRONAS’ involvement in youth sports development goes beyond corporate social responsibility, describing it as part of the company’s long-term commitment to the community and the state of Sarawak.
“These are the values PETRONAS believes in — not only to produce athletes, but to shape individuals.
“PETRONAS believes that when we invest in youth, we are investing in the future,” she added.
She said that through sports, PETRONAS is not merely developing athletes.
“Football is simply the medium; it is not only about winning or losing, but about the positive values gained through the experience of participating in this tournament, values that will last a lifetime.
“With great enthusiasm, I would like to extend a warm welcome and invite all teams to the PYFCL.
“May this tournament become a platform that produces not only great players, but also individuals of strong character and resilience,” she said.
