DARO: The Daro New Town Extension Phase 2 project is set for completion in November 2026 and is expected to further boost the district’s socio-economic growth.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the project is designed to establish a new economic hub that will stimulate local growth, boost entrepreneurship, and attract greater investment into Daro.

“The successful implementation of this project also completes the development of Phase 1, which has been completed and is now fully operational as part of the phased development planning in the area.

“Meanwhile, Phase 2 encompasses the construction of 20 units of two-storey shophouses, 10 units of two-storey mini shops, as well as 10 units of industrial cottages provided to meet the needs of local entrepreneurs,” he said.

He said this to reporters after inspecting the project site on Wednesday (Jun 10).

He added that the development also includes supporting infrastructure such as public toilets, an electrical substation, open spaces, and parking facilities to ensure convenience and efficient business operations.

The project has been carefully planned to create a conducive business environment while sustaining long-term local economic growth.

He also noted that market response has been very encouraging, with all shophouse and mini shop units already receiving early bookings.

“This subsequently proves the massive potential of Daro as a new economic growth centre,” he added.

He further expressed appreciation to the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) and other implementing agencies for their commitment and cooperation in ensuring the project proceeds according to plan for the benefit of the people and the broader development of Daro.
