KUCHING: The townhall session with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre here on Tuesday drew about 1,500 participants, marking a key highlight of the ninth anniversary celebration of the current Sarawak administration.
The strong turnout reflected public interest in the state’s development direction and the administration’s continued emphasis on open engagement with the people.
The session, which was aired on TVS provided an opportunity to reflect on nearly a decade of governance, during which Sarawak has pursued wide-ranging initiatives in economic growth, infrastructure development and institutional reforms. It also served as a timely platform to take stock of achievements while outlining priorities as the state positions itself for future challenges and opportunities.
During the townhall, Abang Johari reiterated his vision for a progressive, inclusive and economically resilient Sarawak, stressing the importance of unity, long-term planning and good governance. The interactive setting allowed participants to gain deeper insights into government policies, particularly in areas such as digital transformation, talent development and sustainable economic growth.
More than a commemorative event, the townhall highlighted the administration’s commitment to dialogue and participatory governance. By engaging directly with about 1,500 attendees, the Premier reaffirmed his pledge to listen to public feedback and to move forward together with the people as Sarawak enters the next phase of its development journey.
