MIRI: The first day of Chinese New Year saw firefighters responding to a vehicle blaze after a Toyota Land Cruiser was gutted in a fire at Jambatan Kampung Madinah Suai here this afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 1.43 pm, and personnel from the Batu Niah station arrived at the scene at 2.05 pm.
Operations commander, PBK I Jeffery Majin, said the vehicle was already fully engulfed upon arrival.
“Firefighters carried out a size-up and initiated extinguishing works using one hose reel line from the fire engine pump until the fire was completely put out,” he said.
The owner, Goh Cheng Huing, 64, escaped unhurt.
The operation was brought under control at 2.16 pm and concluded at 2.39 pm.
