BINTULU: Traditional games are not merely recreational activities but also symbols of culture and identity that must be preserved and passed down to future generations.
In line with this, Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming emphasised that efforts to reintroduce traditional games to the younger generation are crucial to ensure they do not fade away over time.

“Programmes like this serve not only as platforms for recreation but also as important initiatives in preserving our culture and heritage.
“Traditional games reflect our community’s identity, which must continue to be strengthened,” he said while officiating at the 2025 Bintulu Division-level Traditional Sports and Games Carnival at the Dewan Suarah Bintulu field today (May 4).
Pang also commended the commitment of the people here, who consistently strive to foster unity through community- and culture-based programmes.
“Such activities not only strengthen bonds among residents but also contribute to shaping a healthy, competitive, and culturally rich society,” he added.
He further stated his continued support for the organisation of similar programmes that unite communities across various ethnicities and backgrounds.
“As the elected representative of N68 Tanjong Batu, my team and I remain committed to supporting initiatives that build an active, progressive community rooted in strong cultural values,” he said.
The programme, organised by Kelab Belia Mulia Bandar Bintulu in collaboration with various agencies and local communities, attracted strong participation and featured a variety of activities, including traditional game competitions and community sports.
