MIRI: Motorists here are advised to expect temporary road closures and diversions early on Sunday (April 26) as part of the Sarawakku Sayang 2026 programme.

Police said the restrictions will be in place from 6.30am to 8am to facilitate a Fun Walk event, with traffic personnel deployed along the route to manage flow and ensure public safety.

The event will begin and end at Stadium Terbuka Miri and is expected to draw a large number of participants.

Roads affected include Jalan Bintang, the Kipas roundabout, Jalan Kipas, Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Merbau, Jalan North Yu Seng and Jalan Merpati, before the route loops back via the Kipas roundabout and Jalan Bintang to the stadium.

Police will implement rolling closures and diversions along these roads during the event, and motorists are urged to follow instructions from officers on duty and plan their journeys in advance.

For the remainder of the programme, which runs from April 24 to 26, no major road closures are expected.

The official opening ceremony will take place at 10.30am on April 25 at the stadium, with access restricted to authorised vehicles displaying official passes.

Authorities said traffic control measures throughout the event are intended to minimise disruption while ensuring the safety of participants and the public.
