KUCHING: Just hours after a man was feared drowned near the Tun Salahuddin Bridge, tragedy struck again — this time in the form of a fatal road accident on the same stretch.

Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the incident occurred around 3 pm yesterday, when a motorcycle ridden by a 22-year-old local man lost control and skidded off the road while heading from Petra Jaya towards Pending.

“The rider veered onto the left shoulder of the road and suffered severe head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel,” he said in a statement today (Apr 12).

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Police are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant information to come forward and contact Traffic Investigation Officer Insp. Russell anak Stetson Junner at 013-8578601 / 082-259900 or report to the nearest police station.

Mohd Farhan also reminded motorists to always drive responsibly and observe traffic laws to ensure the safety of all road users.
