MIRI: Two men escaped with minor injuries after a collision involving a trailer and a palm oil lorry along the Pan Borneo Highway near Niah today (Jan 24).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the accident occurred at about 3pm at RH Ngindang along the Miri–Bintulu stretch.

Both drivers were not trapped and had managed to exit their vehicles before firefighters arrived at the scene.

The trailer driver, Bernard Bana, 55, was uninjured, while the palm oil lorry driver Christopher Jamba, 38, sustained minor injuries.

Firefighters from Batu Niah station were deployed to the scene and conducted monitoring to ensure the situation was safe and under control.

No rescue operation was required, and personnel returned to the station after conditions were deemed secure at about 5.20pm.
