KUCHING: A 49-year-old trailer lorry driver sustained leg injuries after his vehicle crashed into a tree along Jalan Demak Laut heading towards Jalan Bako late yesterday afternoon (Oct 3).
The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said personnel from the Tabuan Jaya station were dispatched to the scene following a distress call at 4.30 pm.
“The driver was trapped inside the lorry’s cab, and rescuers had to cut the tree branches that had fallen onto the vehicle before extricating him using special road traffic accident (RTA) equipment.
“He was later handed over to medical personnel at the scene for further treatment,” the department said in a statement.
The rescue team also cleared oil spillage from the accident site before concluding the operation at 5.51 pm.
