MIRI: A young motorcyclist reportedly died after being involved in a collision with a trailer lorry on late Tuesday (August 7) evening nearby Miri Bypass-Kuala Baram traffic light intersection. The incident occurred around 5pm.
The 23 year-old rider,was identified as Zehan Amir Razak of Kampung Muhibbah Kuala Baram. Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu, State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief, in confirming the case on yesterday, disclosed, the deceased was pronounced dead at Miri hospital emergency ward yesterday (Wednesday) around 9am. According to police investigation, Zehan was travelling from Sungai Liku heading towards Permyjaya, while the lorry trailer was coming from Miri By Pass road going to Sungai Liku.
The collision happened right in the middle of the traffic light intersection.
“During the collision, the traffic light signal was not working,” said Supt Alexson. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
