KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s leadership over the past eight years has been instrumental in steering Sarawak towards significant progress and development.

Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the Premier’s achievements, particularly his commitment to restoring Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), have been significant.

She noted that Abang Johari’s determination has fostered greater collaboration between the federal government and Sarawak, ensuring consistent updates on MA63-related issues for Members of Parliament.

“The Premier’s leadership has brought transformative progress to Sarawak.

“Since taking over the premiership from the late Tok Nan, he has been committed to restoring Sarawak’s rights enshrined under the MA63.

“This journey, which began during Tok Nan’s time and my tenure as Minister in charge of Law, has gained remarkable momentum under the Premier,” she said.

The Premier’s bold vision of digital transformation has elevated Sarawak’s economy and empowered its people, particularly those in rural areas.

Nancy pointed out that his initiatives have enhanced digital literacy and utilization, which proved invaluable during the COVID-19 pandemic when digital platforms became essential for transactions.

“This forward-thinking approach continues to benefit Sarawakians across all sectors,” said the Santubong MP.

She added that another significant achievement is the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS), which has revitalized Sarawak’s economy and positioned the state as a model of resilience and growth.

Nancy commended the Premier’s innovative approach to economic diversification, particularly his focus on new energy initiatives.

She asserted that, as a Sarawakian MP and federal minister, she deeply admires and eagerly anticipates the Premier’s speeches, which she described as consistently brimming with fresh and innovative ideas to boost Sarawak’s economy.

“He is a unique leader who doesn’t dwell on routine topics like tourism, delegating those responsibilities to his capable Cabinet.

“Abang Johari himself has become synonymous with economic transformation, a true ‘Brand in Economy’,” she said, adding that his policies cater to all segments of society, from newborns to students and civil servants.

Under his leadership, Sarawak has embarked on groundbreaking projects such as the Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit (ART) system and initiatives in the aerospace industry.

These efforts are set to enhance connectivity and create new career opportunities for the youth, further driving economic growth.

Nancy admires the Premier’s forward-thinking leadership and wishes him continued success in 2025, saying he has inspired all Sarawakians.

“What is there to complain about our Premier? His innovative ideas and rapid implementation keep us on our toes, challenging us to understand his vision and translate it into tangible results.

“Keep up your great performance. Sarawakians love you for your great understanding of the people’s needs,” said Nancy.
