SIBU: Three locals escaped with minor injuries after their pick-up truck crashed into a drain along Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman this morning (Feb 9).
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Sungai Merah station were dispatched to the scene, about 18km away, following a distress call at 2.25 am.
On arrival, the team found all three men trapped inside the wrecked vehicle by the roadside.
Extrication works were promptly carried out to free the victims using rescue tools.
The men, aged between 20 and 22, sustained minor injuries and were handed over to the paramedics for transport to Sibu Hospital.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 3.20am.
