BINTULU: Police arrested a group of robbers involved in housebreaking during Op Pintu on Sunday (Mar 15).

Police arrest three suspects during Op Pintu.

They were arrested after a tip-off on a burglary at Kidurong Hill, leading police to raid a squatter house along Jalan Bintulu-Tatau at about 3.30pm.

Bintulu district police chief Supt Nixon Jashua Ali said three local men were aged between 25 and 42.

All three suspects admitted to being involved in the crime in Tanjung Kidurong.

“Their modus operandi was to break into corner-lot houses that were left vacant and steal items such as air-conditioning units and electrical cables to be sold.

“The group also used a Toyota Camry sedan owned by one of the suspect’s father to carry out their criminal activities,” he said.

Of the three suspects, two are repeat offenders with eight and four prior records respectively, involving drug-related offences, vehicle theft and domestic abuse cases in the district.

The men were brought to the Bintulu Court for a remand order, and the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
