KUCHING: Kuching City FC continue shaping their squad-building project, with three new signings strengthening both defensive structure and attacking depth ahead of the new season.

The latest arrivals see the club bring in Japanese defensive midfielder Kaishu Yamazaki, experienced centre-back Irfan Zakaria, and attacking midfielder Safawi Rasid, adding a mix of international exposure, domestic experience, and creative quality to the squad.

Yamazaki, 28, joins from Philippines side, Kaya FC, where he operated as a defensive midfielder known for breaking up play and providing stability in front of the backline.

His arrival is expected to add steel and discipline in the middle of the park.

In defence, Irfan Zakaria, 31, brings extensive Malaysian top-flight experience, having previously turned out for Melaka FC.

The centre-back is expected to offer leadership and composure at the heart of Kuching City’s defensive line.

Meanwhile, Safawi Rasid, 29, joins the attacking unit with a strong pedigree in Malaysian football, having represented Johor Darul Ta’zim, Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur City, and a loan spell with Ratchaburi in Thailand.

Known for his creativity and set-piece ability, he is expected to add an extra dimension in the final third.

The trio of signings underlines Kuching City’s intent to build a more balanced and competitive squad, with depth across key areas as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming campaign.

Earlier, The Cats had already confirmed the arrivals of Australian forward, Dylan Wenzel-Halls, from Penang FC and experienced midfielder, Nazmi Faiz Mansor, formerly of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT), further strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.
