
PANTU: A man suffered serious injuries after the truck he was driving collided with with a lorry at KM70, Jalan Sri Aman-Kuching in Jaong area, Pantu at midnight on Thursday.
Sri Aman district police chief DSP Haji Othman Sulaiman said the victim was identified as Mohd Faizal Liu Abdullah, 47, from Merdang Gambir, Kota Samarahan.
“Prior to the accident, there was a lorry with a flat tyre parked at the roadside.
“When a driver of a lorry heading for Kuching from Sri Aman was trying to drive past the stalled lorry, his vehicle hit right side of the truck driven by the victim who was coming from the opposite direction,” said Othman.
He said the lorry from the Sri Aman skidded to the left of the road while the victim’s truck skidded to the right side of the road.
“The victim sustained head injuries and broken right leg. The case is being investigated under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Force 1987,” he added.
Othman said the other two lorry drivers were not injured in the incident.
“There are no witnesses to the accident which occurred on the straight road and in a good weather condition,” he said.
