MIRI: Around 42 students between the ages of 8 to 12 from a tuition centre in Piasau went on a field trip to the Miri Central Police Station (CPS) yesterday.

Accompanied by eight tutors during the visit, they couldn’t contain their excitement when they met the uniformed men.

“The visit was aimed at exposing them to the police force and their tasks,” said one of the tutors, Shim Yen Yen.

Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) head DSP Lee Swee Sake was present to welcome the children who arrived at the CPS around 9am.

Besides being briefed on various departments in the police station, the students also got a closer look at various assets such as police motorcycles and patrol cars.

“They learned about the motorcycles and were taught how the sirens work. They were even allowed to sit on the motorcycles and inside the cars,” said DSP Lee.

A section where the cars and motorcycles were parked was a definite crowd-puller during the visit.
