MIRI: Residents in the Tutoh area are urged to extend their full cooperation to project implementers and contractors, especially for projects involving land or construction works near settlements.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring) Datuk Gerawat Gala stressed that community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) must play their role in engaging with residents and providing accurate explanations on the benefits of development projects to avoid misunderstandings that could hinder smooth implementation.

“Tutoh is currently on a positive trajectory with various ongoing people-centric projects, including the Mesra Rakyat (MRP) initiative and the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), which continue to be implemented in stages to meet local needs,” he said during the Kuala Tutoh Townhall Session held at the FORUM Building, here recently.

The townhall session focused primarily on updates regarding infrastructure projects and efforts to improve the welfare of residents in the area, particularly in terms of basic amenities and community development.

Gerawat, who is also Mulu assemblyman, provided detailed explanations on the progress of development projects, including clean water supply, the construction of the new Mulu Constituency Administrative and Business Centre, and other infrastructure initiatives aimed at improving the well-being of local communities.

Additionally, he highlighted the latest developments of key strategic projects such as the Miri–Marudi–Mulu–Long Panai–Long Lama Road (MMMLL) and the Sarawak–Sabah Link Road (SSLR), which are expected to enhance connectivity, shorten travel time, and open new economic opportunities for the region.
