KUCHING: Sarawak’s premier combat sports event, RENTAP Fighting Championship 7.0 (RENTAP FC7), will reach viewers across the state with 13 hours of live coverage with TVS broadcasting the tournament’s main event from The Summer Mall here on January 17.
TVS Chief Media Officer, Sardon Zainal, said the station is proud to be the official broadcast partner for the seventh edition of the championship, which he described as the largest and most prestigious combat sports tournament ever organised in Sarawak.
“TVS is honoured to be the broadcast partner for RENTAP Fighting Championship 7.0, the seventh edition of the largest and most prestigious combat sports tournament ever organised in Sarawak,” he said during a press conference today.
He said RENTAP FC7 will be held from January 16 to 18, with TVS airing the event’s highlight day live from 8.00 am to 11.00 pm, offering uninterrupted coverage throughout the day.
According to Sardon, the broadcast will feature three main segments, namely the Amateur Muaythai Championship, Submission Grappling Championship, and Pro International Muaythai Fight Night, bringing together local and international athletes on one major stage.
“Through the broadcast of RENTAP FC7, TVS is not only delivering an international-standard combat sports championship to viewers but also playing an inspirational role in line with our tagline, ‘TVS Inspirasi Duniamu’, particularly for the younger generation interested in Muaythai and martial arts,” he said.
He added that the participation of well-known athletes such as Boy Prata, Mia Ghazali and Izzat SS, along with the presence of sports icons Miki Ghazali and Kabilan Jelevan as RENTAP ambassadors, would give Sarawakian and Malaysian youth direct exposure to the potential career pathways, discipline and professional values within combat sports.
“As a local broadcaster, TVS remains committed to using its platform to nurture interest, build aspirations and open opportunities for young talents to view Muaythai as a competitive and viable field at both national and international levels,” Sardon said.
He expressed confidence that sustained coverage of RENTAP Fighting Championship 7.0 would help spur the growth of local combat sports, while reinforcing TVS’ role as a platform that not only entertains, but also inspires and creates opportunities for the next generation of athletes.
