MANILA: Filipino conjoined twins, Klea and Maurice Ann Misa, are set to fly to Riyadh on Saturday for a life-changing separation surgery fully funded by the Saudi government.

The twins will be treated at King Abdulaziz Medical City under the Ministry of National Guard, with their case led by Dr Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.

The procedure is part of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Separation Programme, a humanitarian initiative under the patronage of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

This marks the third Filipino case to receive treatment under the programme, which the Saudi Embassy in Manila hailed as a symbol of strong bilateral ties and shared humanitarian values.

Before their departure, the twins and their parents met with Saudi Ambassador Faisal Ebraheem Alghamdi, who wished them well and praised the spirit of cooperation between the two nations.

The family expressed gratitude for the Kingdom’s support.

Since 1990, the programme has successfully separated 146 children from 27 countries.

Earlier this year, Filipino twins, Ayeesha and Akhizah Yusoph, underwent a successful procedure in Riyadh, also led by Dr Al Rabeeah. – BERNAMA
