Two arrested, 65 motorcycles seized in Kuching traffic op

KUCHING: A teenage boy and a young man were arrested by police from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department during Op Samseng Jalanan.

The operation was carried out from 3.30pm, March 29 until 2.30am, March 30 in the Masja area.

Kuching district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said a total of three officers and 32 personnel were deployed to curb road bully behaviour and reckless driving.

“During the operation, the team apprehended a 16-year-old boy and a 20-year-old man, and also seized their motorcycles.

“Both suspects were arrested for offences under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.”

Throughout the operation, police inspected 118 individuals and 108 vehicles.

ACP Alexson added that 65 motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987, while 350 summonses were issued for various traffic offences.

He advised the public to always comply with road regulations and avoid engaging in dangerous activities such as road bullying, reckless driving, and illegal vehicle modifications.
