MUKAH: Two motorists were arrested for drug abuse while 27 non-compliance notices were issued during an integrated traffic operation yesterday (Jul 8).
The operation, conducted by the district Road Transport Department (RTD) and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK), took aim at traffic law offenders and drug users in a no-nonsense bid to keep the roads clean and safe.
RTD officers inspected a total of 160 vehicles and discovered numerous traffic offences, which resulted in 27 non-compliance notices being issued against motorists
Meanwhile, AADK screened 31 motorists to detect drug use and of the figure, two were detained after being tested positive for methamphetamine.
Such operation not only proves enforcement will not compromise in protecting the safety of all road users, but also signals that the drug threat still exists and efforts to combat it must be intensified.
